Are the T-6 pubs that are issued in UPT available on AF e-publishing? If so, could I get a list of the names (AFI-XXX&hellip to download them? Thanks and gig ‘em.

By the way, that’s supposed to be a closed parenthesis. Not an ambiguously gay winking man. Wink wink.

Many general knowledges questions during your UPT experience will come from the wonderful AFI 11-217 (the air force way to fly instruments). Enjoy.

Thank you. I have one question (so far). On page 128 of the 11-217 V1, there is a figure depicting an aircraft navigating from one arbitrary DME fix to another without crossing directly over the VOR. I somewhat understand the "guess and check" method of getting to the fix but I can't see how you can plot an EXACT course to the fix without doing some serious trigonometry (in your head!!). Is this the only method to get from fix to fix without RNAV? What if the fixes are closer together and your aircraft is doing something like 300 KCAS? What if you are in IMC in an unfamiliar area and terrain becomes an issue? Does anyone have any better techniques?

While this used to be the damnation of every UPT stud... From my understanding, it's no longer a required part of the syllabus? Truth?

Also heard that penetrations are also not a required part of the T-38 syllabus. Crazy.
