Does anyone know of anyone else who went to UPT for a non-fighter aircraft, but then afterwards, switched to an F-16/15/Raptor?  If so, did that person go back to UPT?  How old were they during the transition?

This kind of activity is rare, especially nowadays when there are separate tracks in UPT. If you've never flown a T-38, chances are you will not fly fighters later in your career. This, however, doesn't mean it can't happen. You can be picked up by a guard/reserve fighter unit and they'll pay for the necessary training. Also, you can attend Test Pilot School, which will allow you fly many fighters. You will not be sent back to UPT if you've already graduated, no matter what the airframe.

Hope this helps.
