McCain agrees with critics of West Pennsylvania.....I hope he doesn't screw up the nuclear codes should he get into the White House....

Hmmm... seems strange that Al-Qaeda publicly announces their "support" for McCain. Maybe they really do support him, maybe they don't. Given the fact that this story has been running on most mainstream news networks (not just Fox news), could it be possible that Al-Qaeda actually is smart enough to do a stunt like this for the exact opposite effect? Hypothetically, Al-Qaeda "knows" that Americans dislike them for various reasons (i.e. 9-11...), and maybe they realize that Americans will be shocked by a terrorist organization supporting McCain, which would cause them to vote for Obama. Is there a possibility that good ol' fashioned reverse psychology is in play here? As for the second post.... yeah, McCain misspoke. But in all fairness, he didn't mean it. It could have been a worse situation... but it wasn't. For instance, he could have said: "I...did...not...have...sexual...relations...with...that...woman..." - something which was clearly intended to shield guilt and defeat the ends of justice. Then again... this is just my opinion. |

| Good point. Could be the case although I *think* in this instance the website message was discovered covertly right? So it doesn't appear they meant to use it as info ops. But who knows. Although when Hamas endorsed Obama there weren't any right wingers bringing up your argument despite it being more relevant in that case with the public announcement. But you're right...who knows and maybe more importantly, who cares. But certainly terrorists would seek to affect our elections and our foreign policy so it's something to think about. |

Awesome.
Very clever move by Al-Qaeda, regardless of who they would rather see in office. |

Nice edit! I was going to mention something along the lines of socialism and how one candidate that just voted to nationalize the banks and give 800 billion in taxpayer money (against their will) to financial institutions can be so hypocritical as to call the other candidate (that also voted for it) a "socialist" or a "marxist." I mean really? It's true...it's shit and it's not capitalist and I don't like it one bit. But there is something really stupid about one robber calling another a robber dishonest and sounding holier-than-thou about it.
I loved McCain ten years ago...I felt sorry for him over the last 8 years...and at the end of this campaign he sickens me. He's going to lose big and I hope he retires from public life and uses the rest of his limited years to think about how he fucked up. |

I agree that the bailout and nationalizing the banks were very extreme moves, and I hate the idea of bailing out the same greedy assholes that caused this mess. But I have a couple of questions that have been going through my mind: 1) What if what Paulson and Bernake were claiming was true? What if this bailout saves us from how low our economy COULD have gone had we not bailed out the system? Is it better to take a step toward socialism (although our government is still VERY far from actually being socialist) and potentially save every American from years of depression? Or should we just let the system correct itself and suffer through whatever deep dark hole we're heading into without trying to fix anything? Or maybe there were more "capitalist" prescriptions we could have put on this system? 2) Isn't it the true free market capitolism philosophy that got us into this mess? Lack of over sight and letting businesses do whatever they want to allowed all of this corruption to take place. As a matter of fact, history has shown us that money and greed corrupt even the most noble of people. Is there a way to be TRULY capitolist and trust big business not to bend over everybody else in the country? Or do you consider government oversight to be "socialist." I'm not advocating any position here, just interested in what you have to say about these things... |

My thoughts: 1. So what if they're right. If the economy crashes then so be it. I'm all for another Depression and I think it will be cleansing for our country and make us stronger by killing off the weak. 2. I'm not a totally "hands off" guy as far as capitalism. I'm all for oversight that ensures people are not lying, cheating or stealing or using the government to unfairly practice business. But that's it. That's the limit. So yeah if "free market" means removing controls to allow people to steal, and lie, and cheat then I'd agree that philosophy had something to do with this situation BUT if we were at least consistent then it would correct itself....shitty companies would plummet, people would see rich CEOs make off with tons of their money and then leave them with nothing, and investors would likely demand controls on CEOs as shareholders in the future. Free market works. But wtih the UPS come the DOWNS. If our government goes full socialist on us and FORCES taxpayers to purchase shit investments everytime companies are about to tank...then we don't have free market. So I'd say...let's have free market and then we'll see how it goes. But this isn't free market. And just because shit gets bad from time to time does not mean it doesn't work. Stuff can't be good all the time for EVERYBODY. From time to time the stupid, the ignorant, and the plain unlucky will have a tough time in capitalism. That's just how it works which is why it pays not to be one of those people if you can help it. I think it's the best system and I wish our government would practice it for once. But I have no problem with controls meant to keep people from cooking the books, and forcing them to be honest, so that lying shit-stains like ENRON aren't allowed to screw people like they were allowed to do by operating in the darkness for so long. There should be transparency. |

| Anybody see the hateful message from AQ to President Elect Obama saying several things including chastizing him for being a christian despite his father being a muslim? Just funny (like a clown on fire) considering all the morons in America, on the internet, and even in uniform sadly...that think Obama is a muslim. Did I mention 33% of Texans? I'm sure these retards think it's some kind of conspiracy. |
