We're using this weekend to convert the Pilot Slot Stats to the new architecture.  It's in the works...

Progress is good. We should have the page back up with the 100+ user records that guys graciously shared. The charting functionality, however, probably won't be up by the end of the weekend. But the averages/highs/lows and individual user records will be up. It will take us a little bit more time to put up the interface so guys can share their numbers and add to the data. But it's all coming soon.

Oh, and the ENJJPT tracking data will be included in this version although there won't be any data to display since we didn't support it before.  But guys that put their info in will be able to add the info and new submissions can include this data.

The whole thing is taking more time than we wanted because we're making the code "one size fits all" to support Nav Stats Data and OTS Stats Data for other AFSCs.

Ryno - what's the 411 on the ENJJPT tracking info?

Well....so far....  It's simply got a checkbox that allows users that share their Stats to check a box that says "Applied for ENJJPT?" and it also has a dropdown box where they can select the UPT base they're going to.  So the data display will allow users to sort by "those that went to ENJJPT" and the charting functionality (which will not be up today) will allow users to get a chart showing the stats of those that went to Sheppard against those that went to other bases (or all other bases).  That way guys can get a feel for how much more competitive it is to get an EN slot.

But we didn't ask for the info before so it's not yet in the database.  Users that put their info in before will still be able to add this extra info.  Just depends on how many come back to edit their stuff.

You got any other ideas?  What you thinkin man...

The new Pilot Slot Stats will also show the % of Prior Es, % that have their PPLs, and the average age for all commissioning sources (and active duty boards).

We're putting in support to grab even more info (how many guys have instrument/commericial/CFI/CFII ratings, how many guys had to get a waiver, PFT, OM, RSS, ranking data, camp scores, what Det they went to, what Guard unit they got picked up by, and some other stuff) but that stuff won't be released until the Pilot Slot Service is completed.  The more detailed info will be a part of that.

Alright Finally!

That was a weekend well spent let me tell you.  I forgot how many dudes had added their info.  I had to port over 155 records to the new architecture.  Anyway, it's up.  I should hopefully get up the Individual Stats grid where guys can look at individual records tomorrow.  Then it'll be a few days before I get the charting functionality up.  Then, finally, I'll get the Stats Entry stuff up so everyone that got picked up recently can add their data.

Good to see the stats are back up...still interested to see how you are going to incorporate them with the forums tho...

Yeah still workin out the details on that one. The individual record functionalty is now up. It's improved upon but will be further improved to show who has a PPL, who's prior E, etc. The sorting functionality still needs to be implemented. Not tonight though.

And the page needs to be tweaked to be Firefox compliant.

Stats Entry will be up tomorrow. So all you guys that got pilot slots within the last year will be able to throw them in.

Alas the Stats Entry will take another day. Tomorrow. No really!

And then again, maybe not. Hopefully tomorrow. I just keep making it better and it's taking more time than I thought it would.

By the end of the weekend... Hopefully the charting functionality will be up too.

The Stats Entry/Charting is on hold until we get a list built of medical waivers. We have one volunteer that is tackling this list but if anyone else wants to help it would be appreciated.

The Stats Entry/Charting will be knocked out the week of the 26th. All week dedicated to the Stats. Should be much improved over what we had last time (which was still damn good).

The Stats Entry should be up later tonight.

Still plugging away but making good progress. Here are some of the new features that are making this a little more time intensive:

The stats include stats for:
- guys that got pilot slots
- guys that got nav slots
- guys that got abm slots
- guys that got non-flying OTS slots

And my personal favorite, guys that are competing for pilot slots or ots non-flying slots

Some of the data that will be tracked and charted now includes:
- what base they went to
- what they tracked
- if they graduated, washed out, sied
- ratings they had when they got the slot (ppl, instrument, commercial, cfi, cfii, atp)
- if they were prior E
- if they were prior enlisted in their guard unit (if they are guard)
- if they were on waiver when they got the slot
- and more...

It's going to give guys a look into the nooks and crannies of what it takes to get a slot

It will be cool for guys wanting to measure up the current competition to see the stats of their peers before they find out if they got a slot or not. And for the guys that put their data in the "Competing For A" database... They will be able to simply click a button when they get a slot or don't...and the info will be automatically transferred over to the new database.

The data display will be much much better. We're using several new chart types that will be great to see...they're based on some law school application website that tracks stats of guys applying for law school. Pretty good stuff.

So now you may see why this is taking a bit longer than expected. It'll be worth the wait.

The Stats Entry will finally be up tomorrow after some more rigorous testing.  Here you can see the initial info screen for Pilot Slot Selects which is pretty much just like the old Stats we had up.

This is the only info required to be entered and it changes if the user is a Zoomie, Guard, Reserve, OTS, or got their slot while on Active Duty.  That data presented changes according to source.  After this data is entered, a whole bunch of completely optional data is presented as shown below.  Guys can answer some of it, all of it, or none of it.  It also changes according to source.  For example, a Guard/Reserve guy is given a list of Guard/Reserve units if they want to show which unit they got hired by.

The Stats Entry is up. I'd certainly appreciate any guys that already entered their info to check it out and add some additional info and let me know if you run into any bugs or have any ideas.

For any new pilot selects, please throw those digits in the database!

We've got the first of the charts up on the page now. Much more to come. If anyone has any inputs on what kind of charts or how the data could be displayed please post.

Small glitch with guys that got Active Duty slots... It doesn't always show the year they got the slot correctly (ie -1)... Simple fix hopefully done this weekend.

I spotted a redundant record that made its way into the database. We'll make it tighter on the data entry here within a month or so at the same time we start displaying the data we've been collecting as far as ENJJPT, waivers, base info, etc.
