I just wanted to give you all a heads up, in case you didn't know, that the IFS course start dates have changed due to the new 4 week syllabus. This may be a Guard isolated incident, but I'm just getting the word out. I was scheduled to start IFS 26 Jan 09 and found out yesterday that the class was pushed forward to start 21 Jan 09 and end 2 weeks early. The only reason I found this out was because I reserved a shuttle ride and they noticed my jacked up dates and told me so. My BETM had no idea the course dates had changed so either NGB didn't inform our respective units or DOSS didn't inform NGB. Regardless, I'd call DOSS and verify you have the right information. |

So is it for sure that all guard pilot selects will be going to IFS from here on out? That's what I have read online but my unit didn't seem to think I would have to go just because I have my PPL...

That's the 'official' word. I still have a couple of buddies that went through AMS with me in Oct that will not be doing IFS and one already started UPT and the others start within the next two/three of months. I have to wait until August. |

Sounds good to me...4 weeks of TDY paid flying...my slot is FY2010 so I can't start upt any sooner than 1 OCT of this year anyway. Sign me up for anything that gets me away from my current job and involves AF stuff.

You mean you can't start any later than 1 Oct, right? We're FY '10 guys, as well, and we start in Aug. If you started after 1 Oct this year, you wouldn't graduate UPT until FY '11. |

No I meant what I said...I got hired for an FY 10 pilot slot. Therefore the guard isn't planning on paying to start putting me through upt until the beginning of that FY which will be 1 OCT 09...grad dates don't matter and the point was the wait sucks so hell ya send me to brooks, AMS, and IFS ASAP so I can get paid to do AF stuff instead of manual labor at a dead end job waiting for upt. Also getting all that per upt stuff done ASAP will help with getting an early upt class date in FY10.

Btw Jolly how long after the NGB flowed you brooks/FC1 dates did they get you AMS, IFS, and UPT dates?..the wait is killing me!

I got Brooks and AMS dates the same day. IFS dates a couple of days later and UPT dates halfway through AMS (so approx. 2 months after I had received AMS dates). Getting them was exciting, but finding out that I didn't leave for UPT for alsmot a year sucked balls. I was selected for a FY 09 slot and am going to be in one of the last ones. Hopefully you have better luck. |

Wow that does suck and it seems like there is no rhyme or reason as to when we get dates as guard members besides knowing the FY in which we will start UPT...hopefully I get some more dates soon. Good luck at IFS man.
