So I am being sponsored for the march boards. I have completed and passed my FC1 and like everyone else waiting for the boards to meet and decide my fate. My question is if I am being sponsored what are the chances of not being selected by the boards. I have heard that if a unit wants to hire you then chances are that the boards wont dispute that and you are pretty much in? Thoughts? |

That Depends......had to say it. I can only speak for the history of the reserve squadrons at TCM. They haven't had a denial in a few years for sponsored applicants. The only time they had a denial was due to some 'inconsistanties' in the application. If you numbers are good and you are honest then you have a good shot at it...from what I have heard. I'm in the same boat as you...just waiting and wishing for March 25 to roll around. What squadron are you sponsored by? |

I'm in the same board as you guys. I got sponsored by the 732nd out of McGuire. So the names will be released on the 25th? How long after we find out do we DEP? And about how long after that can we expect class dates? Thanks! |

RedVan- Sponsored applicants are those who have applied, been invited to and gone through rather rigorous interviews with the specific squadron. It is a way for those squadrons to make sure they get a guy (or gal) who they can stand to fly with for long periods of time. Please note that this AFRC board is the first to refuse applications of people who have not been sponsored. This is a new thing...no more unapproved d-bags getting pilot slots because of their good scores. It is the whole person concept coming into play. Hollynlsn- Not sure exactly when the names/decisions will be released but I do know the AFRC board is being held on the 25th. Some say it is about a week or so after the board but who really knows... As far as getting hard dates for OTS/IFS/UPT...again...who knows. I have heard anywhere from one month to one year. I think it might depend on age, scores, school dates available and a myriad of other variables. Hurry up and wait. I am starting my Graduate Studies if that tells you anything about what I am expecting (I am 22 yrs old with mid to high scores and two years to go on my reserve enlistment). Sponsored by the 313 AS out of McChord AFB, WA. Our base has three candidates in front of the board, one for each of the three reserve squadrons (97th, 728th and the most raddest of all...the 313th). |

Thanks for the quick response! I'm hoping I get the "rubber stamp" without trouble. So the first week of April huh? My unit is trying to get me to OTS on May 6th. June 24th would be extremely good too. Not sure I can get in that quick though. When is everyone else hoping to go? I just can't wait to get though training and come back to fly the globemaster around the world!!! |

Heh. Who knows!....I am not even sure how will notify me. I am currently still with my maintenace squadron that is on the same base. My guess for you it would be the recruiter...for me my soon-to-be chief pilot. |

ARGH!! I was recently told by my CC that he doesn't expect a word from AFRC for 2-3 WEEKS! If you guys had any idea how much my wife is nagging me to find out, you'd probably suck on an exhaust pipe. McElheranL, I read somewhere else in one of your posts about the Boeing guy who is now counting down the days of his enlistment because he didn't get sponsored. Its really too bad that he wasn't willing to try and try again. Just out of curiosity, how many interviews did you go through until the 313th picked you up? |

I spoke to my recruiter on Friday and he was hoping to notify me today. He said that if it's true of past boards, we should know this week at the latest. He's even planning the trip down this week to finish my paperwork and do my DEP. Does this make you feel better? Inside I still feel like this |

I just talked to my recruiter who told me that we probably wont hear anything until next week. She said sometimes that the results come out early but rarely. I really hope she is wrong because this waiting is driving me crazy! |

It really seems to me that recruiters are simply middle men that get paperwork from point A to point B. It doesn't really seem like they know anything about anything. After all, they do have many other officer recruits to deal with, and can't be an expert on the AFRC selection boards. But either way, the sooner, the better! |

What To Do After the Board Meets: + HQ AFPC/DPAOT3: - Sends the list of selectees to MPF customer service units by ML 8106 message. The message explains how to notify successful candidates and release the information publicly (includes MINIMIZE) + HQ AFPC/DPPAOS: - Informs the servicing MPF of the class date, base of assignment, and reporting instructions through the Military Personnel Data System (MilPDS). - Processes assignments as directed in AFI 36-2110, Assignments. + Servicing MPFs: - Notify the immediate commander of each selected candidate in the commander's service area and document date commander was notified and date commander notified selected candidate. - Give each selected candidate 7 days from official notification through MilPDS to accept or decline UFT. Counsel candidates who decline UFT that they are ineligible to reapply for UFT. Prepare and have the member sign a memorandum letter indicating their understanding. From AFI36-2205 |

My recruiter just called me with word that I've been selected with an OTS class date of November 2nd. I'm stoked for the selection, but November is forever away! I'm hoping my commander can make some phone calls for me and get my class date moved up. Everyone else should be notified in the next couple hours, and by the latest Monday morning. Hope this helps!!! CHEERS! |
