What can someone expect when attending a UTA weekend with a guard or reserve unit? I have been to 1 fighter unit "roll call" but I dont have a clue what to expect during a UTA for either fighters or heavies...

anyone care to shed some light on this?

Expect to do a lot of sitting around and a lot of listening. Expect a lot of guys to ask you where you're from and what your background is.

Do the "grip and grin".

Bring a general of Jack or something like that to be accepted well.

Expect it to be busy for the traditional guys, they're the ones that don't fly too often so they're there to get stuff done. The full timers are the ones that will probably be sitting around.

Hang around the ops desk or in the bar around 10:30 or so and you may be asked to go on a lunch push.

Have fun. Be yourself.
