What does an interview look like for a current enlisted member? Do we need to report in? Salute?

For most units, yes... It is the exception to NOT report in, but it does happen at some units. Most of the time, if they do not want you to report in, somebody will either brief the entire group of folks the ROE or will pull the prior guys aside and give you the expected way to enter the board. I just interviewd for a C-130 UPT slot for an AFRES unit and they were very laid back. I received and accepted an offer so now I'm in the mist of gathering more paperwork so that my package can be submitted to AFRC in September. They invited 6 for the interview(1 Nav, 3 enlisted, 2 civilians) and I believe 4 of us got picked up. As an SSgt, I was escorted down to the room by the Captain who organized the event. He went in first and then I waited 30 sec before knocking once. I entered, walk straight to the center of the table where my seat was, saluted the Lt. Col. and said "Sir, SSgt ____ reports as ordered". That was as formal as it got. They had a list of standard questions, but basically went with the flow and didn't seem to follow it very much. On the board was the Lt. Col, 3 Majors, the Captain, and a couple crew chiefs.

The main thing about the interview is for them to get a feel for how well you'll click with the unit. Everyone who was invited to the interview was well qualified so the questions weren't meant to try to prove whether you qualify or not. If you're invited, you qualify. Basically, just be yourself and don't sound like you're citing something that you've memorized. One question I got was whether I'm a CPA (I'm an Accountant as a civilian) and whether I'd do their taxes if I'm hired. Basically, I just told them that yes, I do volunteer to do taxes for the low-income or elderly and that none of them qualify. The Lt. Col. basically threw in a joke that on their side of the table, each one of them qualifies cause they're elderly.
