Still trying to get up to speed on some issues I will have to overcome.   Alot of Navy guys say they do not want to train with the Air Force because of the complexity of transitioning back to the Navy lifestyle.  Well there is not much out there about the other way around.  It seems logical that it is the same.  What all will be so hard about transitioning from Navy to Air Force when the last phase comes in.  I have heard patterns, comm, etc were different.   Do the instructors compensate for this or are you expected to just run with it?  Any information greatly appreciated.

Assigned to Whiting NAS until 7 Oct 2010, then back to Air Force.

Also...update from previous post..seems the T-34c will be my aircraft for sure...not to happy about that as I will again be behind the digital cockpit curve!

I went through Air Force T-37 training and Navy T-44 training back in the day. Air Force training is more difficult, in my opinion, and requires more precision. It's quicker paced and more fast moving. Navy training, it seems to me (but I didn't fly primary so I could be totally wrong), is more big picture and slower and softer. So going from Navy training to a T-38 or a T-1 might be like going from a gentleman's club to a meat grinder.

One other difference. The Air Force does more hand holding in its organized "here you go...don't forget your lunch" type of approach while the Navy expects you to have figured out what you needed to have studied and learned it without anybody actually officially telling you what you needed to study. The Navy expects you to get the gouge from the people ahead of you and figure it out. The Air Force holds your hand more.

Just my opinions...could be wrong.

My opinion is pretty limited but it was my thought the Air Force did a better job preparing guys in primary training but I did think the T-44 program with the Navy was outstanding for instrument flying training.

I know there were some guys that did T-34s and went to T-38s and had a tough time. Of course others did that with no problem.

Karizma I believe you are 1 class ahead of me.  My dates are:

ASBC 26 March

Whiting 9 May

IFS 27 July

IST 19 Sept

Been trying to find some folks in my class.  As you well know the closer it gets time to leave I'm about 94% positive that the dates will get changed again somehow.  Keep me posted on your training so I can have some idea of what to expect.

Please let me know if there are any guard or reserve guys with you at whiting. I'm all for the laid back lifestyle and the longer time frame ($$$ orders). I had heard that ANG/AFRC goes strictly through AFBs

Thanks.
