Hey! I just got my dates and I'm going to Randolph on 12 May and supposed to start UNT 5 June, I was wondering if anyone could give me some gouge on the surrounding area, better to live on base or off those kinds of things. What were some stuff you wish you knew when you showed up, and any advice about the training its self (IFS and UNT). Thanks for any help!

What kind of per diem do you get if you live off base? I didn't know guys could live off base in nav school. Congrats on the slot.

San Antonio area is something like 1030 for housing off base, from what I hear, if the dorms are 90% full you are able to apply to live off base haven't been confirmed though. Thanks! Took me a bit to warm up to it, after talking to some guys (herk CSOs) at a few airshows sounds like its going to be a blast!

I enjoyed living off base. I had a decent sized apartment and was able to bank a couple hundred a month of my BAH. I recommend Converse which is just SW of the base. Another good option is renting a house with a couple of guys from your class. You're able to bank a ton of money from your BAH and still enjoy the college lifestlye.

Well I just found out today (4 weeks from commisioning) that the Air Force has decided to send me to pilot training! Thanks for all of the help guys!
