I have been selected to fly the F-16 for the National Guard. What should I do now before I leave in May to get ready for it? Anyone have any ideas to get me a little ahead of the game? I've heard that obtaining a -1 for the 38 or T-6 is a waste.

I agree. Start drinking and enjoy your time with your friends. The next 2 - 3 years of your life are pretty much mapped out. Just get ready for the fun.

Shack on drinking and enjoying yourself....just do it safely and with your head on a swivel. I too am curious what unit picked you up and how long ago. I got hired by the 132nd FW in Sep 08 and just got FCI and AMS dates. Make sure and update your unit's page on this site so future dudes can apply and you can be a good member of your unit by increasing the quality of the applicant pool that will eventually select one of your future wingmen. You can let those in charge of your unit's UPT board know they have an outlet to advertise their openings on here and like I said above, increase the quality of who applies to their unit.

Just read your dates. So you got your AMS dates and UPT dates already...WTFO I want my UPT dates damit. Do you know where you are going or just your dates. Looks like I will be in the class before you at AMS and yea I heard AMS at TysonMcghee ANGB will be shut down starting FY 2010 and everyone (Guard, Reserve, AD) will be going to 12 week OTS. We are the lucky dudes sliding in (sts) on the last year of 6 week AMS.

You bet mafia, unit is the 113th wg, I only know that I'll be stationed in DC and my dates for training. I will definately keep the unit page updated as well as opening slots. It's what got me in there. Awesome class before mine? So maybe you'll be a senior for when I get there? I hear that, I'll take AMS.

Shit Hot dude I applied there and got asked to interview but got hired by Iowa a few weeks before that. So you know UPT dates but not what base you will be going through UPT?

Are you from the DC area? Are you prior E? Or did you just walk in off the street and from out of town and own it?

As for class my Commission date is 24 Apr so it looks like I will be out of there before you show up in May.

Just FYI AMS only does one class at a time, thus there is no "senior" class like at OTS. Going to AMS for 6 wks definitely beats OTS for 12. Bro's in the future are not going to enjoy that. It'll only make the pen pocket patch (a big one) of "FUCKITIMGUARD" that much more true.

From everything I have read/heard , Guard is still only doing 6 weeks. Reserve now has to do the whole 12, and regardless its ALL happening at Maxwell. Is this incorrect? Doesnt matter much, as Id walk on fire to get my wings.....
