Just saw the Transformers movie yesterday in Victoria, BC.  Anybody else see it?  They did a good job.  You could tell the Air Force worked closely with the movie people although the one glaring error was the badges the CCT guy was wearing were wrong.

I'll be interested to see the deleted scenes when the DVD comes out since my guess is there is some more Gunship footage that got pulled.  They had the AC-130 destroy a scorpion in about ten seconds of footage but later on the ground guys talk about using the alien technology to retrofit the Gunships but they're never seen again in the movie.  All in all, AFSOC gotta a lot of love as did the C-17 and the F-22.  Good flick.

Yeah, I saw it the yesterday. Megan Fox is hot, robots breaking sh!t and some pretty cool af a/c scenes combines to make for a pretty good flick.

Saw it earlier this week - thought it was pretty bad ass.

Useless trivia: Remember Megan Fox's first boyfriend in the film? The blond football player with the Hummer that he wouldn't let her drive? I went to high school with that dude. From his IMDB page, it looks like he's on the up & up.

Best action movie of the year. Very satisfying and I plan on seeing it again. Perfect movie to watch in the theatre. Attacking the Scorpion sequence was one of my favorite parts.

Does Hollywood typically work with active duty AF's PR department?

Which unit flys those gunships?  I read somewhere that there's about 20 active gunships.

How about the Predator with the Jet engine?....looked like it broke the sound barrier on the way to helping them out.  There were some issues....as with any movie....that I, as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller and the first guy the Army would look to for the A-10s or the AC-130, had to take issue with.  However, the special effects were awesome and, even with those distractions, I got chills when the A-10s rolled in and the whole audience exhaled "Hell ya"....cause I get to see that almost every day.

Another glaring error in the movie is the lack of the world's foremost killing machine- the Mighty B-52! If they were serious about blowing something up, they would have called in the mighty BUFF and not some puny insignificant support aircraft like the F-22.

Yeah what's up with that? As if 1930s technology wasn't good enough for this "blockbuster" movie! Sheesh. I'm with you, dude. If it was good enough for Wilbur Wright then it's good enough for the silver screen...

Striver knows I kid. I wouldn't bag on a machine that actually reduces the number of bad guys and does more than just make for a good poster to put on the wall.

Besides I owe those boys for my successful pre-marriage dating life. The romantic art of carpet bombing...

Hahah, I'm all for good-natured kidding. Shiiit that's the best part. In fact, I'm going to start using that Wilbur Wright line on some poor bastards over here.

Excuse me, excuse me. That's 1940s technology in the B-52, not 1930s........... hahaha. But she'll still be flying after the last F-16 retires!

Folks can hate on her all they want (I hated, too, before I knew better); she's a good jet. Designed to fly when you need her to (cough! unlike the B-1B cough!) take damage, drop a LOT of iron, take some more damage, and then bring her crew back home. Absolutely rugged airplane, designed with lessons learned from the B-17.

B-52 + AC-130 + A-10 = Bad day for bad guys

Damn good points. Old and rugged with lessons learned and STILL that jet can learn new tricks....ie precision CAS (from what I understand).

If they would just build the rest of them like they built the B-52 maybe we wouldn't be in the financial mess we're in now.

Maybe.
