Any advice would be appreciated.

I am interetested in the JAG program.  Im 24 just got accepted to law school in the fall, but have been talking with an AF recruiter and have been thinking about going in before law school.  My options are enlist as an E3 and after a year put in for officer (is that even possible, also what would my obligation of time be if I did that)  or go in air battle management for a 6 year obligation (could i transfer to another officer position with less obligation?)   or go straight to law school and then try for the JAG program.

My ideal situation would be to go into intel for a year or two and then finish out my remaining 4 years as an officer, go to school and come back to be a JAG.  this would take considerable time about 7 years before I would be a jag but I am willing to sacrifice my age for an amazing experience.  The other option is to go straight to school come out in a lot of debt and try and become a JAG through direct commission.

Sorry for rambling but Im torn between this decision. PLEASE HELP

Thanks

Take it from a prior enlisted guy, finish your school first, period. You will live better as an officer; and don't count on transferring from enlisted to officer once you have already commited to 4-6 years of active duty enlisted. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it is definately a pain in the ass to transfer from current assignments if you are active duty enlisted. What I'm trying to say is, do the direct commission route. If you abseloutely must join, get in the af reserves but don't turn down law school for active duty enlisted life.

Good advice. Thinking that enlisting is a "foot in the door" toward a commission is the wrong concept. It can work out that way but it's not the best route.
