Alright so I know my first step should be to talk to a recruiter, take the AFOQT, etc, etc. That stuff is on my list to do but I have time before the January 09 boards and just wanted to see if it's even worth it. I'm 5'11", 210lbs (not what it sounds like, just had a fit test yesterday and scored higher than anyone there in every area), I've been in the Air Force 3 and a half years out of a 6 year enlistment and I'm 1 year out from finishing my degree and as it sits I have a 3.9 GPA working towards a bachelors in professional aeronautics with a dual minor in safety and managment. I made the deans list prior to deploying last year. I have won 13 AOM boards, I've deployed to Iraq for 6 months outside of my primary AFSC, served a year in the base honor guard, and I have all 5 EPRs. I AM the most decorated airman in my unit. You guys say you have to ooze confidence, well, I've got it. I'm 23 years old, married with two children and I have no physical barriers other than an upcoming oral surgery where my jaw will be realigned (probably going to be an issue but I have time to get waivers, it's not like I'm applying for the June 08 boards though I should graduate in time). Okay so here's the catch I don't have perfect vision. Matter of fact when I took the depth perception test at MEPS four years ago I had to ask what exactly they were asking for. I couldn't tell that any of the circles were different. Okay so a big fat FAIL, right? As far as I know you can't fix a lack of depth perception so I should look into my second and third choice of maintenance officer or airfield operations, or is there something I am missing? I've wanted to fly my entire life (who hasn't that registers here, right?). My goal is to be an officer and I am more than willing to take anything, even SF, I did it for six months and it wasn't that bad. Oh yeah and for the actual factual pilots here I'm a buff crew chief, I dump pee and clean other people's messes for a living, it's time to upgrade.
