I did a search for "AFOQT practice tests", but couldn't find any legitimate links that had practice exams. I went to the ROTC site, but couldn't find anything. Can anyone advise?

To my knowledge, there are no full-length AFOQT practice tests online. You'll have to buy the ARCO AFOQT book. Amazon has it.

Thanks Octopgun for that information.  Question to all:  will you know that you will be accepted as a fighter pilot prior to being sworn in as an officer?

Would the Guard cover for a private pilot's license if enlisted as a member?  Also, once someone is enlisted, can they apply to become an officer prior to their 6-yr. enlisted being completed?  Thanks.

William

No you will not know unless you apply for and then get accepted into
ENJJPT.  Then it is not sure thing either.  You'll have to earn your flighter slot by kicking ass in T-6/37's and then track selecting into 38's
There are only two types of aircraft — fighters and targets.

Yes!! You can apply for an officer slot before your enlistment contract is over. Some benefits might be taken away or paid back (depending on some circumstances) in the worst case scenario. On the Air national Guard side of the house, you do know what aircraft you will fly when you are done with training. Now things can change if you dont keep in the top half of your class. You must pass and be a good pilot to get back to your fighter unit. If you want a better chance of getting a fighter slot, I suggest sending out applications too units everywhere. A few of us here have some knowledge, so dont be affraid to ask.

Just curious what the specific backgrounds are of you guys who have answered my questions (and much thanks by the way)? Also, if someone is placed in a non-fighter jet initially, can they transfer into being a fighter pilot after so many years or time? Once someone gets a pilot position, how many years can they fly?

It is very hard for a tanker/heavy driver to make a transition into the fighter world. Training and requirements vary greatly down the line. It has been done, but it is not easy at all. If you definatley want fighters, then apply to only fighters. If you dont mind what you fly then apply to all units. You might get hired by a heavy unit before your fighter interview....if thats an issue for you, then dont do it.

Im a prior enlisted viper crew chief. Now an a-10 pilot select with an east coast guard unit.

Are there any pilots on board that are or will be stationed on the Western region of the US?

What questions should I ask when calling a unit?

Should I ask to speak to the FW recruiter or who?

TIA

isuav8or - Congrats to you. All that hard work paid off. I absolutely love the A-10. One of my favorites after seeing it for the first time in WINGS back in the days. You're a lucky individual.

Hey bro-

When I was preparing for the AFOQT I received a full length practice exam from Hill AFB (Utah)  library.  It is my understanding that you can contact ANY AF base library and receive the website and password for a full length AFOQT practice test.

Here is the #  for Gerrity Memorial Library at Hill AFB (801) 777-2533 or 777-3833.

Hope this helps.  Good luck y'all!

Should I consider doing PRK or Lasik immediately?

Time is of the essance in your situation. The sooner the better in my opinion. My roommate, a PRK victim, got a (AFROTC) pilot slot in March 07 and has to wait until January 08 for his flight class 1 physical - his surgery was last November. So... if/when you do get picked up it would be better to have all that behind you.

On another note: Be VERY careful when going through this process. It is my understanding that the AF is extremely "anal" in regard to all the pre-op/ post-op paper work! Ask questions, be sure.

Keep it up, man!

I am looking to go into the Air Force Reserve or Air Guard, but was hospitalized a few years ago due to illness and fatigue. I have no prior history of any medical condition or hospitalization. Can you tell me if I might qualify for either one of those military services?

I was hospitalized for illness and fatigue a few years ago.  Otherwise I have no other medical condition or hospitalization.  What are my chances of getting in the Air Guard or Air Force Reserve.  I'm in good health and great shape w/ a 4yr. college degree.
