I have read that you can schedule an FC-1 before going to the board if you are age critical. I am not age critical but I will be denouncing dual citizenship in order to be eligible to apply.

Is it possible to schedule an FC-1 medical before selection if you are not age critical?

If so can it be scheduled yourself or does a recruiter need to schedule it for you?

I just want to make sure that I will be medically qualified before I denounce citizenship.

Are you military? I'm not sure how it works if you're enlisted, guard, or reserve, but if you're an active duty officer, you can tell you Squadron/Group CC (not sure which one, the first military officer in my chain of command was the deputy group cc) that you want to apply to UPT and he should give you a letter to take to flight med and they'll get started on your physical. And by "give you a letter," I mean you write it and he signs it...

I don't think they would do this.

They wouldn't send you to your FC-1 physical unless you have a pilot slot...or your age critical...period. I went over the summer...and they said it was like $60,000 per person that goes through. So if your not even meeting the requirements (citizen), they most likely won't send you.

Talk to your recruiter/officer...and see what they say...but I doubt they will send you unless you have a pilot slot...or your age critical. Its expensive to fly you down there and do the physical, so they probably are not going to send people that don't have a slot/don't meet requirements.

Not to mention that physical is straight up taxing.

I wouldn't want to go through it again, much less so if I wasn't sure if I was going to be qualified.

Well except the part of when they dilate your eyes. I was one of the people that had a reaction to that strong medicine...and passed out about 45 seconds after they put the eye drops in lol. After about 15 seconds I started getting hypoxic and was like....ohhh shit lol. Guy told me to stand up so I can lay down and then I hit the floor lol.

Then going to dinner that night when everyones near vision was still gone was quiet funny lol.

I was talking about the FC-1 which can be done locally, not the MFS at Brooks (that requires travel and multiple days). As I understand it the FC-1 is done at a local capable detachment and is only a 1 day visit similar to MEPS and not that taxing, though the people I spoke to did it some time ago...

Does'nt matter now anyway I went ahead with everything I needed to do to apply to 10-01
