Depends on where on the list you are. I found out I was at the top of the list alt list when I wasn't picked up for pilot the first go around (I was certainly bitter about that for a while), but got picked up for pilot on the first wave of reclassifications. What basically happens is you will be taking the spot of someone who most likely failed some portion of a flight physical, though it could be due in part to disenrollments, etc. But basically the higher you are on the list, the better off you are because it will take less people to lose their slots before you get picked up to fill it (sts).

I know I didn't find out until after spring break so I would say at least a good month or two. However, now that I think about it, I'm not 100% certain that they release that information in waves/groups on certain dates. It could just be a case by case basis, so if someone fails a physical, they will imediately notify the the first person on the alt list once the failed individuals paperwork gets officially processed and filed. I can say though that we had people at our det get bumped from ABM to Nav so, I MAKE NO GUARANTEES, but the impression that I get is that they usually exhaust the alt list.

Okay - Cali - first off, your COC and PAS must know some people over at HQ because I had a buddy on the alt list, and the col was basically asking all around for info on the alt list and nobody would say a damn thing - so thats good info, another bit of info that I can tell you is that in my three years in ROTC I have seen two cadets, sharp as a tack get Pilot slots the very last day of LLAB no more than 5 days before commissioning, I know that kind of sucks - because it means there is always hope if not only a slight bit - but there is hope - keep up the hard work!
